LGBTQI is een letterwoord om seksuele, gender- en geslachtsdiversiteit aan te duiden. L= lesbisch, G= gay (homo), B= biseksueel, T= transgender, Q=queer, I= intersekse.
Doorbreek genderstereotypen in de klas
Lesgeven over LGBTQI, gender en seksuele diversiteit? Leuk! Het is in de eerste plaats een 'plezant' thema om aan te werken in je klas. Bovendien kan je als leraar een grote rol spelen in het doorbreken van genderstereotypen en het bespreekbaar maken van seksuele diversiteit. Al van in de kleuterklas kan je kinderen een positieve blik geven op (gender)diversiteit. Maar ook in de basisschool en in het secundair onderwijs werpt het mooie vruchten af als je werkt rond deze thema's. Hoe meer kennis er immers leeft over diversiteit, hoe toleranter jongeren hier tegenover staan. Dit komt alle leerlingen ten goede.
Wil je graag aan de slag met het LGBTQI-thema? Wel, op 17 mei is er de Internationale Dag tegen Holebi- en Transfobie (IDAHOT). Een ideaal moment om het thema bespreekbaar te maken.
