Butcher in the classroom

Butcher in the classroom teaches primary school pupils of groups 5 to 8 and the first class of VMBO about the butcher's shop, the butcher's section and the products that the butcher sells. It is primarily a first introduction to the craft profession and invites children to think about the origin of their food. For VMBO, where pupils are already occupied with career choices, it also focuses on the different professions within the butcher's trade.

The curriculum, developed on behalf of Stichting Opleidingsfonds Slagersbedrijf (Sovvb), consists of this website also of various printed materials. You can order the free lesson bundle through this site. It is also possible - in the Netherlands - to organize a visit to the butcher's shop with the whole class as a fun and educational conclusion.
