Dia: Based Vector drawing program

Dia is a vector based drawing program, with strong support for making diagrams (graphs). Graphs are a series of "objects" connected to "arrows".

Dia has a library of ready-made object shapes in many different fields: flow diagrams, UML models (Unified Modeling Language), electrical and computer, electronic and hydraulic circuits, and many others.

The standard form of diagrams all have a number of nodes which can be snapped into arrows, such that the compounds are maintained are moved as parts of a diagram. Dia provides a rich set of possible arrow points to, and the sizes of arrows and arrowheads are easy to adapt to the needs of the user.

One of the most active developments in Dia is the support for the UML standard, which is reasonably become popular among programmers. UML forms in Dia offer fields to the standard UML information to give (methods, attributes, etc.).

Dia uses an open standard format (SVG, Scalable Vector Graphics) in order to save drawings. The program can also perform drawings into vector formats (eps, pdf) and bitmatformaten (eg. Png). In this way, Dia characters seamlessly used in a host of other free software programs that can import this kind of open formats. Users can extend the available libraries of object shapes by with Dia create SVG files of the required new forms.
