Eperon d'or: Industrial heritage site

Eperon d'Or is a former shoe factory in Izegem and is currently in use as an industrial heritage site. The museum is home to shoe and brush collections.

They developed a number of guided tours for schools. Below you will find a selection from the range:

Thomas Lamp wants electricity
In an interactive way, students learn about everything that has to do with steam and electricity. Students learn the basics of electricity, they build a circuit and they visit the largest steam engine in the country.

Mystery @ the museum
The mysterious disappearance of brush manufacturer August Deryckere is the reason for an English-language detective investigation throughout Eperon d'Or. Along the way, students practice their language skills and are introduced to the history and techniques of the shoe and brush industry. The scavenger hunt is also available in Dutch.

Never war again
Izegem was in occupied territory during WWI. The thriving industrial town was completely disrupted by the strict regulations of the occupying forces. During the walk, students relive this period through the war diaries of doctor Jules Gits.

Workshop shoe keychain
Under supervision, the children make a nice key ring in the form of a leather shoe, which they can take home afterwards.
