Waterverbruik onder de aandacht op school
De watervoetafdruk
Wist je dat voeding in België een grote hap uit onze watervoetafdruk neemt? Gemiddeld heeft een Belg een watervoetafdruk van zo'n 7.400 liter per dag. 47% daarvan gaat naar voeding! We kunnen echter perfect gezond én heerlijk eten met een kleine(re) watervoetafdruk. Niet voor alle voedingsmiddelen is immers evenveel water nodig. Voor vlees is er bijvoorbeeld veel water nodig, maar voor veel groenten- en fruitsoorten is dat niet het geval.
Red water en bossen!
Door meer plantaardig te eten, kunnen we onze watervoetafdruk aanzienlijk verkleinen. Maar ook voor bossen is minder vlees en meer plantaardig eten goed. Zo is er minder houtkap nodig voor het aanplanten van gewassen voor veevoer. En bossen helpen op hun beurt de watercyclus in evenwicht te houden.
