De Tweede Wereldoorlog: lesmateriaal en didactische tips
Lesgeven en leren over de Tweede Wereldoorlog en de Holocaust laat de kwetsbaarheid zien van de samenleving en van de instellingen die geacht worden de veiligheid en rechten van iedereen te beschermen. De Tweede Wereldoorlog veranderde onze wereld volledig. Daarom is het een belangrijke periode die leerlingen helpt anders naar het heden te kijken.
Herinneringseducatie
Leren over de Tweede Wereldoorlog en de Holocaust toont de gevaren van vooroordelen, discriminatie en ontmenselijking. Het verdiept de reflectie over hedendaagse kwesties die samenlevingen over de hele wereld beïnvloeden. Denk maar aan de kracht van extremistische ideologieën, propaganda, het misbruik van officiële macht, groepsgerichte haat en geweld.
Educatie over de Tweede Wereldoorlog en Holocaust kan leiden tot een reflectie over de herhaling van dergelijke misdaden en de rol van de internationale gemeenschap.
Maak geschiedenislessen persoonlijk
Geschiedenislessen worden steeds minder relevant voor leerlingen. Het verleden leeft niet meer bij de jongeren van vandaag zoals het dat deed bij de vorige generatie. Vandaag de dag komen jongeren amper nog in contact met getuigen of overlevenden van de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Daarom is het belangrijk om in je lessen te werken met persoonlijke verhalen en getuigenissen. Zo worden de geschiedenislessen aanspreekbaar voor de leerlingen.
