Holocaust: lesmateriaal en didactische tips
De wereld hoe we die vandaag kennen is voor een groot deel gevormd door belangrijke, maar tegelijkertijd ook gruwelijke gebeurtenissen. De tekens die de Holocaust heeft nagelaten blijven nog altijd actueel en de gevolgen ervan zie je nog steeds in de samenleving. Het is daarom ook belangrijk dat er in het onderwijs nog altijd aandacht wordt besteed.
Geschiedenisles over de Holocaust
Lesgeven over de Tweede Wereldoorlog of de Holocaust is niet altijd eenvoudig. Het belang van geschiedenislessen wordt vaak niet meer ingezien door de leerlingen. Voor jongeren vandaag de dag leeft de geschiedenis niet zoals ze dat deed voor de vorige generatie. Daarom is het belangrijk dat de geschiedenislessen over de Holocaust aanspreekbaar en interessant zijn voor de leerlingen.
We mogen niet vergeten
Het is belangrijk dat we blijven lesgeven over de Holocaust en de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Door te leren over de Holocaust kunnen we leren hoe Europa is kunnen afglijden naar deze genocide. Zo krijgen we inzicht op de daaropvolgende ontwikkelingen van het internationaal recht en andere mechanismen die zich hebben voorgedaan in de geschiedenis.
Herinneringseducatie is dus niet enkel het verleden begrijpen, maar ook leren uit het verleden.
Op 27 januari is het ‘Internationale Herdenkingsdag voor de Holocaust’. Op die datum werden in 1945 de overlevenden van het concentratiekamp Auschwitz bevrijd.
