Intercultural school culture: Toolbox with diversity actions and methodologies

In the Intercultural school culture toolbox you will find various actions, learning contents, detailed lessons, methodologies and other teaching materials to stimulate interculturality in your classroom and in your school.

The toolbox was developed by the teacher training courses of KU Leuven and UCLL and was inspired by the method of the School Without Racism. It is the result of a pilot project (2021-2023) of professional learning communities. In these learning communities, student teachers, teacher trainers, in-service teachers, students and coordinators from five secondary schools worked together on diversity actions within the school.

The project had several goals: (1) to develop competencies in teacher trainees and teacher trainers to teach culturally responsive teaching; (2) building an intercultural school policy; (3) sustainably anchor the insights in the approach and curriculum of teacher training.

This pilot project was realized with subsidies from the Department of Education and Training of the Flemish Government.
