Mango moment: Warm care in a small gesture
Whether it is training for a healthcare profession, paramedical or medical profession, care recipient or patient-oriented care, warm and committed care provision are discussed as learning content.
That learning content makes so much sense. And yet, if we look at the practice/daily (care) reality, there appears to be a (sometimes large) gap between theory and practice. During their training, pupils and students mention this gap, and this leads to questions, insecurities, doubts about themselves and their ambitions as a healthcare professional ... (healthcare professionals also want a warm and committed working environment).
The context may play a role in this. Awareness is also an important aspect.
The aim of this assignment is to stimulate this awareness:
- awareness of what care recipient or patient-oriented care, warm and committed care provision actually mean;
- awareness of the effect of such care on care recipients… and on healthcare professionals themselves.
