European Statistics Olympiad

The European Statistics Olympiad is a competition for students from the third stage of secondary education. The Statistics Olympiad tests your students' theoretical knowledge , as well as their research competences and creative skills . All tests are conducted online. Students can be enrolled individually or in teams of two to three students. After the Belgian round, there is a European round.

During a first online test , the teams are tested on three skills: basic statistics, analysis skills and interpreting statistical reports.

In the second test we assess creative competences: can the students communicate correctly and creatively about statistics, in a video? All selected teams are tasked with creating a video of maximum two minutes on a predetermined topic, in English, or at least with English subtitles. That theme is the same for all European countries, as the winners of all countries compete against each other at the European level.

Practical: the registration period is announced on the website and the Facebook page, and is usually at the beginning of the school year. The online test and subsequent tests are usually taken between November and March. The exact schedule will be communicated at the start of the registration period. To stay informed, you can subscribe to the newsletter of the European Statistics Olympiad, via the website.
