Pieter Corneliszoon Hooft, love songs and poems: Lesidee
Pieter Corneliszoon Hooft (1581-1647) was already called the head of Dutch poets in his own time. No one wrote such artificial sonnets and such moving love poems and his songs to well-known melodies were widely sung along. In this learning tool we are introduced to some of Hooft's poems and songs, which belong to the canon of Dutch literature. We compare his texts with paintings from the golden age and look for similarities between the 17th century world and the contemporary world of the students.
