Understanding Stille Waters


In half or a full day, your students will investigate the biotic and abiotic factors of a pond of their choice. A biotope study, linked to a citizen science project: the data that your students collect are used in a real study.

You can optionally extend this half day with one or two options:

  • identifying the captured aquatic animals and determining the Belgian Biotic Index (BBI) in the field study center;
  • a bicycle tour in De Wijers where we view the investigated pond within a landscape setting. You can rent bicycles for 25 euros, for the entire group (max. 25 students).
