Young Plato: Educational Pack

This is an educational package from Blue Bird Docs based on the documentary Young Plato by Neasa Ní Chianáin and Declan McGrath.

The film uniquely illustrates that it is feasible to philosophize with young children and thereby strengthen their empathic capacity. At school, the children openly discuss their fears with each other. Together they investigate what emotions are, how these emotions work and they think critically about major social issues.

The teaching package offers tools and exercises to get started with children while philosophizing. We want to encourage everyone involved in raising children to philosophize with them about the big questions of life. You can do that in the classroom, on the playground, in the car or at home at the kitchen table!

The contents of this package are primarily aimed at primary school children, but both the manual on the method and most of the thinking exercises and questions are also perfectly useful for young people from secondary school. The method can also be perfectly applied to adults. Finally, we also provide some reading tips for those who want to learn more about this method.
