Krita: Open source drawing program
Krita is very versatile free software (Win / Mac / Linux) to digitally paint and animate (drawn 2D animation). A digital drawing tablet (eg Wacom) is a must.
There are many manuals available online and there are regular updates and improvements. Using the software is completely free, but the developers can always use some extra support by making a donation.
